Great Birmingham Run 2012

On Sunday 21st October 2012 The Lily Mae Foundation took their running to a new level by taking part in The Bupa Great Birmingham Run.

The Lily Mae Foundation along with Tracey Farnell, Neil Hodgkiss, Mark Pow, Gemma Thomas, Thomas Vinten, Stephane Pajon, Neil Bannon, Helen Richmond, Stuart Whitehouse, Stephen White, Michael Gray and David Higginson completed the grueling 13.1mile course that is a challenge to even the fittest of runners.

After many weeks of training 3-4 times per week, we all lined up on the start line unaware of what emotions and physical discomfort was to be felt along the course.  The course takes in some of Birminghams most iconic sights including the Bullring, The Cadbury’s Factory in Bourneville and Edgbaston Cricket Ground.  Live music from many bands kept us motivated every step of the way and hundreds of supporters turned out to cheer us and all of the other runners across the line on Broad Street in the heart of the city centre.

There was a tremendous amount of commitment from all who ran for The Lily Mae Foundation and thanks to that commitment we raised over £1400; A fantastic amount!!!

We would like to say a huge thank you to all who ran for The Lily Mae Foundation and we look forward to working with you again in the future.
