City of Coventry Swimming Club High Achievers 1 made a huge splash for Lily Mae Day 2017 raising £140 in memory of Lily Mae Jackson.
Lead by Alfie Jackson, Lily Mae's older brother, the swimmers purchased Lily Mae Foundation printed swim hats and replenished their energy levels by purchasing doughnuts after their swimming sessions. The children in the group purchased the hats over the last few weeks and wore them in training sessions leading up to Lily Mae Day 2017.Alfie (11) said, "I wanted to do something to remember my baby sister who I never got to meet when she was stillborn in 2010. I am really grateful to the swimmers and friends in my group for the support they have shown to me. I wanted to raise enough money to pay for 2 memory boxes that will be donated to other bereaved families and I have achieved my goal. Thank you to Paul Wilson (HA1 Coach) and the Parents who have also been supportive in helping to achieve my goal. I really appreciate it."Plans are already in place for 2018 to involve other City of Coventry Swimming Club groups.
